How is it that with all corruption trail, with its leaders sitting in the dock, with full lists of accused, with the worst data management in Spain, after nearly 20 years of government the Valencian PP tackle the next regional elections with all the respondents said they will expand their already holgadísima absolute majority? This is the question that very often we ask a lot in Valencia and you invariably made friends and acquaintances from outside the Valencian land. Today
the power of the PP in Valencia is hegemonic institutions. Control the government of Catalonia, the mayors of the three provincial capitals, most large cities and the three deputations. This has not always been so. Until 1991, PSPV Socialists chained electoral victories but since then everything has been losing, and growing.
Well, with a fellow photographer, Robert Ortín, we made 30 interviews with various personalities from the left Valencia to think about the question that opened this text, what explains this? And we've started a blog exclusively for publication. A blog entitled "The tunnel valencià ( eltunelvalencia.blogspot.com ) which opens tomorrow with the first of the 30 interviews, Professor of Law at the Universitat d'Alacant, Manolo Alcaraz, and will close on May 20, two days of regional and municipal elections, with the talk with Joan Romero, Professor of Geography at the University of Valencia and former Secretary General PSPV. We interviewed
the current leaders of different parties on the left Valencia, we have gotten past that are going to be cartels ahead of elections next May 22. Speeches were looking not worn, or proclamations to the search of the vote. We talked, of course, with historical patterns still active as Cipri Joan Lerma or Cisco, but beyond that we have paid attention the views of people close to political activity but not the stars, politicians who no longer exercise, journalists, academics, people of culture, trade unionists, social activists ... A plural spectrum, very broad, left Valencia .
No definitive conclusions. It goes without saying that we have not found a definitive answer to the original question. We have not found it because not wanted, and not because we were looking for does not exist. Explanations about the hegemony of the PP are related to many things. Of course it is a consequence of the ability of popular time to play their cards, their ability to generate images for a considerable part of society are more powerful than reality, the tight control that subject the media, mostly public but also private and the dense network of patronage that have been able to put up around thanks to public money. These and many other causes, such as the spread of right-wing neo-liberal thinking in much of the world should not be overlooked, and will be in our interviews. However, the bulk of our work focuses on the responsibility of the Left Valencian in understanding the popular electoral dominance: the operation of the progressive parties, including PSPV, its internal tensions, his speeches erratic, their divisions their inability to generate powerful social leaders, lack of speech ... From all this ask in our interviews.
