Two days ago we fulfill the first year of being literally together, because since then my camera became official ... ie "the best" ... I'm the one who always with me (loaded of course ... do not say anything that the best camera is the one who walks around with it?). First came the body and then I was adding various lenses and accessories. Missing, however, some family members (policy) that I could not get into the picture due to lack of space: both color filters in black and white (linear polarizer, uv, different kinds of red, yellow, split, etc), three parasols and a generic Leitz, adapters, a Canon lens corresponding 5cm 1.4 with hood, 2 light meters, 2 lens caps, leather cases for the camera so as to glasses and visors, belts, manuals, etc. Not that long walk to everything, of course, but these accessories allow me to choose different settings each day.
All parts are finished and robustísima magnificent construction. They come from a time when things were built to last a lifetime and beyond. No optics (lenses and viewers) have scratches or other major problems and its mechanical operation is very smooth, like the camera. The only piece that is a little harsh is the NOOKY-HESUM (attachment which reduces the minimum focusing distance of certain optical while making a parallax correction), but still works well.
Someone should invent the "marriage of celluloid ... I'd stay in an eternal honeymoon with a technology that not only is in itself a form of poetry only, but above all produce results of a unique and unmistakable beauty (yes, I say without exaggeration). That is why this technology should not be seen as never expires, or outdated, or good for museums, or eccentric, or anything like that level because there is no aesthetic derived from it that is obsolescent. Who judges photochemical obsolete technology is often only takes into account technical quality and aesthetic quality forget your , two concepts which, although not comparable, they are closely linked. In any case, the particular aspect or "pasta" of analogue photography is deceased and if that does not occur should not stop the material used is achieved. I am not saying that digital it can not be made beauties, I'm saying is that digital can not grow at the expense of analog. Today unfortunately many movies magnificent disappeared (like Kodachrome, etc.) and a sword of Damocles hanging over the remaining, but that's our fault the photographers themselves for abandoning a technology that is demanding but also rewards you with great satisfaction to those who working with perseverance and dedication. Do not forget that not everything is picture resolution, detail and versatility ... how many times I have never seen images made with the best contemporary camera but completely devoid of soul .... The same can be said of the analog of course, but there is his great legacy of over a century and a half to show that the analogue picture can be art that touches and there is no intrinsic reason to believe that it can not remain so in the future, however modest it may be old or the equipment used.
